Failure, the Secret to My Success

Over the years I have suffered many personal and business setbacks, but all things considered, my life has been fairly smooth sailing compared to some.

If it is true that you learn from your mistakes, then I should be a billionaire.

I think a lot of being happy in life has to do with how you perceive and deal with the circumstances in which you find yourself. I always look at losses as a signal to pay attention to something o am missing or an opportunity to learn something.

Sometimes it feels necessary to grieve a certain loss but I give it time and then move on. I prefer to live in the present and enjoy all the that I have and am grateful for rather than mourn what I have lost. As Buddhists say, nothing is permanent anyway, so poor times, at some point end and are replaced by better times.

I have certainly been lucky in the sense that good fortune has always seemed to follow my tougher times.

Below is a classic article from Inc. Magazine about how entrepreneurs learn from their failures. I ran across this many years ago have always took solace in knowing that even very prosperous people make mistakes.

Success in life is not about avoiding failures, but learning how to deal with them.
