Success is as simple as standing up straight, raising your arms in the air, stretching out and making yourself bugger. This is brilliant TED talk was given by Amy Cuddy a researcher who herself learned how powerful is the force of faking it until you make it or as she says faking it until you become it.
Psychology follows physiology.
Amy’s insight isn’t new. For thousands of years Buddhists have practiced smiling when they meditate with the theory being that if you smile, you can’t be anything but happy. Try it. It is hard to be upset when you smile. It puts you in a good mood.
Do you ever notice how sometimes when you feel like you have no energy and you want to rest, that you can get a second wind simply by moving around and getting active? Your body tricks your mind into being energized. This works for me often when it is nearing the end of the day and I am starting to fade. Go for a run, do some jumping jacks, hit the gym and boom!…I am re-vitalized and ready for more adventures.
So next time you are feeling down, fluff up your shoulders and do a fist pump. If you are feeling sorry, have a big laugh at how crazy life is.
It is that simple.
