Apparently there are studies that show people who keep a gratitude journal are more likely to be positive. I believe it. For some time now, I have performed a gratitude ritual every morning and it is a very important part of my daily routine and grounding process. It looks something like this:
I am grateful to have spent another day in this world and happy to be here right now
I am grateful for having a wonderful and loving wife and family
I am grateful for the events of yesterday (I like to reference one or more actual events and sometimes I am simply grateful for surviving bad events)
I am lucky to have an abundance of spiritual and physical riches
I am lucky to be here today
[…] (Side note – I start every day with a gratitude prayer because I never want to forget how lucky I am for being here – see Gratitude). […]
[…] Gratitude Exercise – I am truly blessed for having a wonderful wife and family, a secure home, an abundance of physical and spiritual riches, and for simply being alive. Virtually anything can go wrong and I am still extremely lucky. Every day when I take time to remind myself of these things and say thanks to the universe for giving me this life, I can physically feel any stresses or nagging worries drain away from my body. This also puts me in a success oriented frame of mind for achieving whatever goals I am pursuing. For more on this see Gratitude. […]
