How to “Read” More in Less Time

Disclosure. I love books, but don’t read many these days. With 35 minute commute twice a day, I have more time to listen to books than I do to sit down and read. I will often buy the audio version of books that I own because I will actually get to them while the book collects dust in my library.

So with all the interesting books coming at you like waves, how can you stay caught up or get ahead? Here are three tips to get through more books, faster:

1. Download from (purchased by Amazon a few years ago). I get all my audio books here. The downloads are inexpensive compared to buying the CD books and you can easily load them on your iPod. Unlike itunes downloads, it is easy to move them back and forth if you have multiple devices.

2. Buy Abridged Versions – These are worth getting since you lose virtually nothing and they often about 50% of the length

3. Play on Double Speed – Modify your audiobook settings on your player to play the books at double speed (“Fastest” on an iPod). It is hardly noticeale, but will further increase the pace at which you can get through all your favorite books.
