My family and I just returned from an extended vacation in the Carolinas where the weather at this time of the year is warm and not hot. We stayed on the ocean and for two and a half weeks, enjoyed the sea and the sun. The cool air at night was great for sleeping with the windows open.

We were pleasantly surprised to find that upon our return, the weather was just as warm here at home. Unusually warm, in fact as we would normally have at least one more snowfall in April before spring finally arrives.

There are many things I really enjoy about each change of season and with the coming of spring there is a rich awakening of everything outside. The birds are hyper active, the ground is unfolding now that the weight of the snow is gone, frogs are being born, you can almost hear the buds on the trees growing and the strength of the sun’s rays radiate through everything that they reach.

Since our return, it has been warm emough for me to do my morning meditation and yoga on the deck behind our house. This has been a great way to start the day because we live on three acres of wooded land in the country and there is a lot of wildlife around us. As each minute passes in the morning and garden awakens, I can hear a little more background noise until there is a symphony of sounds by the time I am done and the sun is starting to rise.

If you have an opportunity to be outside for your morning routine, whether you are walking, swimming, cycling or sitting on a deck, patio, balcony or porch I highly recommend you try it and enjoy a different experience than waking up indoors.
