Things I Teach My Kids: Practice Makes Perfect

In many domains, there is a belief that mastery requires 10,000 hours of practice. In my experience nothing in life comes easy so the determination to hard work and persist are vital skills and ones that are absolutely critical to have from childhood.

Our kids are learning at a breakneck pace. Everything from how to do sports to dancing and reading. Often they will hit a learning plateau and want to quit, but we coax them on using stories about how practice makes perfect. It works. Usually 😉
