Had my annual physical last week and everything is good. Resting heart rate in the low 60’s, blood pressure normal, b-12 very high (3x normal levels – I guess supplements are working!), iron and insulin levels normal, and cholesterol levels low (and unchanged in 20 years, so obviously cutting meat and dairy had no impact here). Everything else normal.
Getting baseline tests before becoming vegetarian or vegan, would have been great for comparisons, but alas I didn’t have that foresight. In any event, my vegan diet and exercise and lifestyle regimes are at least preventing any deterioration in my health.
Ps. Still avoiding gluten by not eating grains. My diet is a cross between a typical vegan diet and the modern paleo – slow carba, minimal starchy foods, some legumes and no grains. More veggies and seeds!!
